Batman to be taken in interesting new 'dark and gritty' direction
Movie Feature | Matt Looker | 14th May 2014
Zack Snyder has released a first look at Ben Affleck as an all-new 'dark and brooding' Batman for Man Of Steel follow-up, Batman Vs. Superman. Until now, of course, the character has always been a fun and playful superhero, but this seems to be a bold new take on Batman. You can almost see him visibly thinking "Awww, man. My parents got killed. FUCK."

Christmas Playlist: The Best Of 2013
Movie Feature | Neil Alcock | 21st December 2013
It's Christmas, apparently, not that you'd notice. So here's The Shiznit's present to you: a shiny Spotify playlist of the best bits of movie music from 2013. It was that or a PS4, but we knew you'd rather have the chance to listen to the Iron Man Three theme again than receive the world's most advanced games console for free.

Lessons learned from The Superman Project
Movie Feature | Ali | 15th June 2013
I've spent the last two years obsessively dodging any and all promotions of Man Of Steel, purely so I could see a blockbuster untainted by trailers, posters and news stories. Now, having seen - and enjoyed - Man Of Steel - I ask the question: what have I learned? How have I grown? And why did I start doing this again? Here are my findings.

Man Of Steel
Movie Review | Ali | 14th June 2013
Wow. That was my first reaction upon exiting Man Of Steel. Not necessarily 'Wow' in the sense that I had been overly impressed, but 'Wow' like I had been totally exhausted by the experience and felt so light-headed my brain couldn't quite process words with more than one syllable. Now I've had time for my synapses to cool, I can downgrade 'Wow' to 'Huh': though Man Of Steel is epic in the truest sense of the word, it pummels you so hard with its epicness that you don't have the time or the spatial awareness to notice its flaws. Maybe it's the fact I saw it cold, purposefully not having watched any trailers or promotional material beforehand, but flying blind made for an interesting experience – and dare I say, I perhaps enjoyed it more than others might due to that same lack of preconceptions.

Because, let's face it – comic-book fans will only be happy if they can spot unnecessary nods and homages in the film to prove that they can appreciate it on a much better level than your average cinema-going shitmuncher.

An update on The Superman Project
Movie Feature | Ali | 18th April 2013
While everyone enjoys the new Man Of Steel trailer, think of poor little old me, staring at the wall in a desperate attempt to avoid any and all glimpses of the new Superman movie. Why? An experiment to see if excessive consumption of stills, posters and trailers can spoil a movie for you before it's even in cinemas. It's much, much harder than it sounds. (Okay, it isn't, but it is annoying).
