Review: Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga is low on laughs but makes a bold statement

I hate the Eurovision Song Contest. I hate the blinding shiny lights and the garish tackiness - it's what I imagine dropping acid in a Claire's Accessories would be like. I hate the awkward jokes and the hosts bumbling their way through, clearly wishing they were anywhere else. I hate the smugly sly politicisation, even if it is often an accurate and honest representation of feeling towards us and our continental neighbours. I hate the forced laughter. I hate the constant smiling. But most of all I hate the songs. Yes, I hate it. I hate the Eurovision Song Contest because I hate myself and can't admit that it is in fact FUCKING BRILLIANT!

Review: The Lego Movie 2 plays nicely but has no new surprises

My nephews were younger when the first Lego Movie came out. I mean, everyone was. But in 2014 they were five years younger; a lifetime when you're under ten. The elder one loved it; the younger probably not quite at the age where he could be relied on to sit through anything for more than ten minutes without chewing his shoes. They'll love this too, because they're still under ten and they're idiots, despite the older one being quite capable of comprehensively schooling me about dinosaurs. Me, I think maybe the magic has faded a bit.

I'm assuming that you, like me, are looking forward to Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. Can I also assume that you, like me, have cringed your way through every single piece of Ron Burgundy-related marketing for the movie so far? It's great that Will Ferrell has been making himself available to shoot reactive 'viral' videos on various topical subjects, the latest being a laugh-free Doctor Who skit, but they're having the inverse affect to the one intended: these mini-marketing exercises are making me less excited about the actual movie.

"It's funny because Will Ferrell speaks Spanish!" was probably the gist of the Casa De Mi Padre brainstorming session. Yes, Will Ferrell does speak excellent Spanish, and yes, he is very funny with it. But this low-budget Spanish language Mexican western action comedy caper offers more than just cheap racial stereotypes: it's one of the funniest, cleverest spoofs since Hot Shots. Yeah you heard me right, Scary Movie 4.

Reilly, youâ€™ll find the likes of Melinda & Melinda and Stranger than Fiction. Proof, that when not running around in his pants screaming and shouting and generally being a bit much, the guy can do serious.
