Saturday Playlist: Henry Jackman
Movie Feature | Neil Alcock | 2nd November 2013
With the first trailer for X-Men: Days Of Future Past curling out onto the internets this week, it seemed like as good a time as any to celebrate the music of that film's prequel's score's composer, right? I mean when else are we gonna celebrate Henry Jackman? Apart from, say, the other week when Captain Phillips came out and he did the score for that. Sure, that would have been more appropriate, but also too obvious, and that's definitely why I didn't put this playlist together two weeks ago when we were desperate for something to put on the site. And not because I was having a marathon Doctor Who catch-up.

Sir Patrick Stewart is one of us
Movie Feature | Neil | 21st July 2013
In a world of misery, poverty, hunger, war, despair and Shia LaBeouf, let's take a moment to be thankful for the magical things the human race can achieve with a camera phone, a Panama hat and a pan of rice.

The Wolverine
Movie Review | Matt | 18th July 2013
Considering that Wolverine is one of the most-loved comic-book characters, his cinematic adventures really have been borne out of a mixed gene pool. The 'edgy loner' was ingeniously made the centre of the X-Men franchise under Bryan Singer's direction, but by the time we got to his origin story, he had mutated into a caricature of superficial rage and testosterone (not to mention someone forgot to tell director Gavin Hood how to make his claws look realistic). It seems, for all the fan support for Wolverine, his stories are only as good as the person telling them. So how does newcomer-to-the-franchise James Mangold fare?

Tyler Mane can currently be found waiting next to all of the phones
Movie Feature | Matt | 1st December 2012
As Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and Hugh Jackman get tapped up to reprise their X-Men roles in Bryan Singer's forthcoming X-Men: Days Of Future Past, please take a moment to spare a thought for Tyler Mane, who has been practising his best growl all week just in case.

Five things I bet you missed in the first picture from The Wolverine
Movie Feature | Ali | 26th September 2012
We've all seen the first picture from The Wolverine, showing a shirtless Hugh Jackman - or should that be Huge Jacked Man? - flexing the shit out of his muscles. But did you notice these five details? I bet you didn't, because I just made them up.

One year ago today, a horrible atrocity was committed
Movie Feature | Ali | 9th March 2012
Today marks the one year anniversary of one of the most grotesque and perverse acts of movie terrorism ever committed. We were shaken, shocked and bruised, but we were not beaten. It is only in learning from our past failures that we can ever hope to see a bright future for our children. Please observe a one minute silence after the jump.

5 things I learned from the X-Men: First Class press conference
Movie Feature | Matt | 1st June 2011
Last week I was afforded the opportunity to attend the X-Men: First Class press conference, allowing me to go eyeball-to-eyeball with all the stars: James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Kevin Bacon, Lenny Kravitz's daughter and the guy who makes tornados come out of his hands that can't really speak much English.
