The new trailer for Angelina Jolie's spy thriller Salt has landed, and she looks bloody gorgeous. What's the matter, Angie? Can't take a condiment? Zing! Am I right guys, huh? I'm here all week folks, try the veal.
Earlier this week, the Russian trailer for Salt - amusingly pronounced 'Coat' in the motherland - found its way on the interwebs. Now, an English language version has been made available, saving us all the hassle of learning another language. Nyet bad.
Salt sees Jolie play Evelyn Salt, a CIA officer who is outed as a Russian spy by a turncoat. On the run, she has to clear her name in the most action-packed way possible; not by writing a letter to her MP, but by 'doing a Jason Bourne' i.e. jumping on moving trucks, crashing police cars and generally being badass.
Director Phillip Noyce (Clear And Present Danger, The Bone Collector) isn't the kind of guy to go overly shakycam on us, nor is he the type to 'Bay up' scenes with added explosives.
This looks like being a promising thriller with shades of Greengrass, yet the always welcome Jolie should add an interesting jolt of oestrogen. Can she clear her name without losing her femininity?
