A psychological thriller set in the cutthroat world of corporate industry, more specifically, job interviews? Let me know if you spot any subtext!
Empire have provided the world with its first proper glimpse of Exam, the new thriller from first-time director Stuart Hazeldine. It's not his first foray into film, though; IMDB says he played 'Man in crowd scene' in Kenneth Branagh's Frankenstein, and anything not learned on that set isn't worth knowing.
Exam is the epitome of high concept, low-budget. Eight applicants for a high profile job turn up to an interview and are asked to answer just one question. Trouble is, no one knows what the question is, and soon matters turn desperately deadly. They should have just written, "Is this an answer?" A+ every time: guaranteed.
It's easy to see why this has been pitched as "Cube meets The Apprentice" but I can't help but think tension would have been much higher if the question was, "How badly do you want to bum Alan Sugar?" Now let's see where your book smarts get you, douchebags.
