In which Nic Cage is still crazy, Jay Baruchel is still annoying and Jerry Bruckheimer is clearly still huffing glue.
I saw She's Out Of My League last night, and while it was fairly amusing for a throwaway romcom, the one thing that stuck with me was how utterly unbearable I suddenly find Jay Baruchel. That nasal drone of his cuts through me like a knife through butter. Blow your nose, man. Speak with your mouth open. You are speaking through your mouth, aren't you? He sounds like Data, the nerd from The Simpsons. Nyaah, my career is crashing at an impossible speed!
On the plus side, he's looking like being the only thing that'll stop me from enjoying The Sorcerer's Apprentice, which is looking like a well-polished, family-friendly Nic Cage fantasy adventure - kind of like National Treasure, only no one has to kidnap the President or rape history.
Look closely and you'll see the new take on Fantastia's old 'mop and buckets' sequence. The Sorcerer's Apprentice is a new take on Disney's old animated classic, only because Jerry Bruckheimer is producer, it has far more giant steel eagles and magic cars than the original. Take that, Mickey Mouse, you stupid prick.
