Gareth Edwards to direct another monster

Gareth Edwards will direct another American Godzilla reboot. If his first feature is any indication, this movie will feature bland, barely talented actors in the lead roles, only this time they'll be Japanese.

Oh, I know it wasn't a monster movie. I just didn't think it was a particularly good movie (just my opinion)

Would you turn down the chance to make a Godzilla movie, Matt?

Monsters wasn't really a monster movie - they could have been in a warzone, or a creepy rural English village, or some backwater swamp.

My favorite part of Monsters:

*Boring guy and boring girl stop at a checkpoint*

*Something roars deep in the forest*

Boring guy: "What is that?"

Me: Do you think maybe it could be the big ass space monsters that seem to dominate the news every night, and everyone sort of just tolerates in this universe?

Still haven't seen Monsters yet but all the good buzz with it already makes me excited for this.

My only problem is, it kinda feels like Edwards has just accepted the first big blockbuster job that was offered to him thanks to some studio exec saying "So who shall we get to direct our massive monster movie? Oh, hey, what about that guy who's made that small monster movie that everyone likes?"

I hope this isn't the case and that Edwards just really likes making films about monsters.
