Review: Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
Franchises don't usually recover well from a post-trilogy hiatus when coming back for a fourth instalment (I'm looking at you, Indy - and you McClane), but Pirates Of The Caribbean has the added obstacle that each previously released film got progressively worse anyway, ending on a bloated CGI mess of a finale. So has the studio learned its lesson and made a worthy reboot? Of course not – it's utter 'yarrr'se.

Just got home from the theater and I must say I liked this much, MUCH more than the last two movies. I've read the awful reviews, too, and expected it to be pure drudgery sitting through it, but no. I have to disagree with Matt and recommend it. It's not on par with the first one, but for a summer popcorn flick it's pretty fun.

That said, yes, you will probably have to shut down your brain and basic understandings of physics and common sense to let yourself enjoy the movie.

*every* review is pounding this film.
But I'll still buy the DVD when it comes out, as I throughly enjoyed the other 3.
Yep, I even thought 2 & 3 were superb fun. And the reviews boned those too.

And I *really* can't see well enough to know if I'm making typos with this fucking black/grey filter.
