Why the so-called 'Batman murders' are none of our business

There is no doubt that the Aurora massacre - in which a masked gunman entered a movie theatre and shot dead 12 people, injuring 58 others - is a terrible tragedy. I'll leave it to the real news outlets to report the details and will spare you my personal opinions on the politics of the issue, but what I can't stand idly by and watch is the nauseating way in which the media have made this story something it isn't - and how the film community have responded.

To be honest I think you have to have some kind of mental issue to go and randomly shoot 50 people, the act itself kind of requires it.

Great article, very on the money with this. Now to gradually wait for every last nutbag to start blaming every form of media to crawl out of the woodwork.
And in Ali's defence I think the guy seems to have a mental issue of some sort. Watching the footage of him in court he didn't seem to even be aware of what was happening. But yes nothing proven so far. All very depressing.

Agree with your article but one detail.
You state that he was "mentally ill" - I've not been following the gory details, but in the articles I have read I hadn't seen any reference to a psychological condition.
It is stigmatising to those with mental illness, who are statistically no more likely than anyone else to be violent, to have such links made. Please consider editing this bit of your article.

Well said.
EDIT:
For fucks sake, Sky News are talking to a 'comic book expert'.

The newspapers are self-serving pricks, this should surprise no-one. That Nikki Finke quote is glorious in it's stupidity though.
She calls up
Is told a meeting is already happening
Is then told the meeting decided to take down the trailer
She claims credit, despite being completely irrelevant to the decision.
Then, in the best moment, posts the trailer herself.
Glorious
