Mad Men competition brings actual madmen out of hiding

God above. The good people at Banana Republic and the good-but-really-should-have-got-their-arses-in-gear-and-shown-season-five-this-year people at AMC have clubbed together to offer one lucky fan a walk-on part as an extra in Mad Men. All they've succeeded in is proving that some people really shouldn't be allowed the internet.

The contest is to submit a picture of yourself consistent with the period, with clothing, hair and mood all displaying that special kind of style and grace peculiar to Mad Men. Sharp suits. Brylcreem. Scotch. An elegantly poised cigarette.

Like this guy. This guy's got the right idea.

Yes. Yes, well done, sir. You have perfectly understood the object and the spirit of the competition.

The following people have not.

This is, above all else, an equal opportunities website. We strongly support the right of anyone, regardless of race, age or gender, to enter a competition to appear on Mad Men. But on what planet did ANY of these people think they might win?
