Terminator 3 director to helm Namor The Sub-Mariner movie

Because apparently, an AquaMan movie isn't the worst idea ever. At least they've picked the right guy to make it.
With the Batmans, the Supermans and yes, even the Daredevils of the comic-book world all wrung dry, the bottom of the super-hero barrel is being well and truly dredged.
Despite the fact that Entourage - a TV show which has itself become something of a joke - features an actor character who makes an ill-advised AquaMan movie, producers are still keen to kickstar Namor The Sub-Mariner's career in film.
His powers? He can swim really fast. And see in the murky ocean. And do what fish do. The stuff of celluloid legend, no doubt!
Namor is a Marvel character, but won't be released under the Marvel Studios banner a la Iron Man, as the rights are still held by Universal. Their current choice of director is Jonathan Mostow, who helmed the pretty abject Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines (only recently spared the title of 'Worst Terminator Movie Ever'), the significantly better Kurt Russell thriller, Breakdown, and the forthcoming Bruce Willis sci-fi romp, Surrogates.
The project is still in early stages, so no word yet on casting, but we reckon Olympic diver and professional basket case Jason Statham is a good shout - this looks like a film that is neither above or beneath his acting abilities. He's sure to rival Kevin Costner in Waterworld for the top movie Mariner.
That's unless you agree with the idiotic fan suggestion that Michael Phelps should play Namor because he can swim real good. Next week: Harold Shipman is the new Punisher!
