With Source Code sure to be a big smash ("It's Groundhog Day meets Inception meets Quantum Leap meets Prince Of Persia!"), Duncan Jones had better start thinking about sequels. Think no further.

As Moon sky-rocketed Bowie sprog Duncan Jones on to the exciting list of Talented New Filmmakers to Watch, it also automatically placed him on the sinister register entitled Don't Fuck Up the Next One. Now, while I'm going to try to keep this review relatively spoiler-free, I can reveal that, thankfully, he didn't. (*whispers*)
It's really good.

When does a rom-com stop being a rom-com? When it's R-rated? You'd think that the very definition of such a certification would ensure that the usual saccharine sentiment is swapped out for something more substantial. Unfortunately, no amount of F-bombs, extensive nudity and scenes of distressing drama can save this film from all the well-known romantic comedy trappings. So, essentially, this is just When Harry Fucked Sally.

Movie rule of thumb #1: if Jerry Bruckheimer's name is on the poster, check your brain in with your coat. Prince Of Persia is typically undemanding summer blockbuster fare - all SFX and stylish set-pieces, but very little in the way of substance. I'm not complaining. These movies have their place. But if you're making a big, dumb movie that invites you to switch off and enjoy, then don't over complicate the plot - Pirates Of The Caribbean did it and Prince Of Persia does it too. It's a Bruckheimer trait.

Is it just me, or has there not been a good comedy out in months? Thanks very much, Oscar season, for a series of thoughtful, harrowing dramas that put you right off your popcorn in the harsh, cold light of day. Yeah gang, let's all go to the movies on a Friday night! That'll be fun! (*sigh*)

One small step with Moon has turned into a giant leap for director Duncan Jones, as his mooted projects are getting lined up thick and fast. For now, though, it has been confirmed that sci-fi thriller Source Code is next, teaming him up with notorious Vowel Thief&atrade; Jake Gyllenhaal.

YouTube, of all places, is home to the first trailer for Mike Newell's Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time videogame adaptation. What say the judges? Well, it's very... beige. And there's lots of sand. That's good, right?

The first one-sheet poster for Mike Newell's Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time has surfaced online: someone just desaturated Jake Gyllenhaal's palette and he's pissed.

This latest effort from director David Fincher (Seven, Fight Club) is an intensely detailed, powerfully thrilling look into the nature of obsession and the power of fear; a throwback of sorts to the type of films made during the very era it depicts. The film is razor sharp and wholly engaging, filled to the brim with fantastic ...
