Heath Ledger's final movie, Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium Of Dr. Parnassus, looks like it could be something quite special indeed. Trailer embedded after the jump.
We've seen very little of Dr. Parnassus until now, and I'm guessing that's just the way Terry Gilliam likes it - I'm sure he'd be horrified if he thought someone, somewhere, had a handle on one of his films.
Yahoo have just debuted the movie's first trailer, and despite my initial misgivings - a wanky title, copious use of the word 'dreamscape' etc - I have to say it's looking spectacular. Gilliam's movies usually leave me cold, but this at least has a distinct visual style.
Then, of course, there's the ghoulish appeal of watching Heath Ledger's last roll of the dice. It's been well publicised that Colin Farrell, Jude Law and Official Nicest Man In The World Johnny Depp stepped in to prevent yet another Gilliam film from landing on the scrapheap, but how the 'magic mirror' device for switching between actors will work is yet to be seen. Who knows, it could even work in the film's favour: if anyone deserves a bit of luck, it's Terry Gilliam. Or maybe Heath Ledger.
The Imaginarium Of Dr. Parnassus will be released in the UK on October 16th this year.
