Movie trailer round-up: Aliens, hipsters and Angry Birds

9th December 2011

Here's a round-up of all the week's new movie trailers, and a warning for those sensitive to flashing imagery: Careful, you're missing out on all the good stuff.

First up, a new short, concise trailer for The Darkest Hour actually makes the film seem much better than it has previously looked . In fact, if this was the whole film, I'd probably give it 4 stars:

Is this a trailer for Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close, or a recently unearthed alternative 'tragic' ending to Sleepless In Seattle?

The ironically-titled I Am Not A Hipster looks infuriating and familiar all at the same time. Like an old episode of Party Of Five.

By Seuss' beard! Here's a full trailer for Dr. Seuss' The Lorax:

A couple keep putting off their wedding. That's basically the plot for The Five-year Engagement - is that enough to sustain a whole movie? Well, at least this trailer, showing Jason Segel and Emily Blunt on lovely form, suggests it will at least be fun. It might even be heartwarming or something:

Guy Pearce channels Die Hard era Bruce Willis in sci-fi actioner Lockout, which just so happens to look THE BALLS.

You might be under the belief that Meryl Streep wins Oscars left, right and centre, but even though she has been nominated 16 times, she's actually only won twice - the last time of which was for Sophie's Choice in 1983. This new trailer for The Iron Lady desperately wants her to win again:

Madagascar 3:Europe's Most Wanted is happening apparently:

If I told you to watch this trailer for Wish You Were Here while imagining that it is really for an extended episode of Home And Away, I'd probably be undermining it. So I won't do that.

And finally, this fake trailer for a Guy Ritchie-style take on Angry Birds is pretty brilliant. I would watch the fuck out of this movie.
