Be honest, you always suspected, didn't you?
Fans of the Rodriguez/Tarantino Grindhouse project are in for a treat. Not content with spawning a ridiculous action movie for badass Danny Trejo in Machete, it seems another fake trailer is getting a feature-length version made.
This time, it's competition winner Hobo With A Shotgun that's getting a C-list star and big-screen opportunity. After a contest was held inviting fans to create their own exploitation trailer, budding director Jason Eisener from Nova Scotia handed in this entry and it was a clear winner (doesn't say much about the other trailers, but hey, I can't mock - my own film is still in the pre-conception stages).
Eisener then saw his trailer attached to the Grindhouse DVDs, but only in Canada. Shoulda read the competition rules in the small print, eh?
And now Rutger Hauer has signed on to star in the full-length version, directed by the same young star. Short of getting Nick Nolte to climb down from his crazy tree, this reeks of perfect casting.
Mind you, watch the Eisener's original entry below and tell me - how will this work as a feature-length film? Sure, it's funny now but I think the joke of a drunk, mumbling Hauer shooting people is going to wear pretty thin over 90 minutes. Actually, wait... that sounds awesome!
