Poor old Ben Stiller didn't get invited to the Alpha Papa screening

And he is DESPERATE to see it too. That's totally unfair, you guys.

Stoker
Movie Review | Neil | 25th February 2013
Poor old Park Chan-wook. One minute you're the director of the blistering Sympathy For Mr Vengeance and Oldboy, the next you're the director of I'm A Cyborg, But That's OK and Thirst. What to do to regain your former prowess? The answer, obviously, is to make a new film in a language other than your own, from a script by a Prison Break actor, which on the surface looks like a remake of a beloved Hitchcock classic. What could possibly go wrong?

Rust & Bone
Movie Review | Ali | 4th November 2012
Jacques Audiard works exclusively in the field of 'Directing Amazing French Films Which I'm Nonetheless Always Too Tired To Actually Watch'. Determined to break my duck, having utterly failed to watch A Prophet and The Beat That My Heart Skipped since their release, I raced to the first of my morning press screenings at the London Film Festival last month. I was in such a rush to get there, it was only when I sat down in the National Film Theatre that I realise I'd been wearing my shirt inside out. Thankfully, Rust & Bone was amazing and well worth the fashion faux pas: I'm tempted to say it turned me inside out emotionally, but that'd just be a shit excuse for a terrible non-sequitur. There were people shagging in its other screening – I'd kill for an anecdote like that. But I digress.

Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted
Movie Review | Ed Williamson | 19th October 2012
They left New York. They went to Madagascar. Then they ended up somewhere else in Africa. Now they're in Europe, trying to get back home to New York. It's the Circle of Life. No, hang on, that's ... anyway, here's a pleasant surprise: this animated threequel from DreamWorks is a whole heap of fun. What's more, it represents a film's most effective use of the song 'I Like To Move It' by Reel 2 Reel (feat. The Mad Stuntman) since it was first popularised in the work of Truffaut.

The Watch
Movie Review | Rob | 25th August 2012
2004. Anyone recall what happened that year? There was a football tournament I think? I do remember failing my first driving test because I went to see Dodgeball that same night to cheer myself up. And in a tedious way to link to this film, that was the last time Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn shared a screen together. Since then, neither has really been keeping the funnies consistently flowing. I passed my driving test by the way.

Tower Heist
Movie Review | Matt | 4th November 2011
For someone who has starred in some of the best comedies of the past decade, Ben Stiller is hardly a guarantee of good quality. For every couple of Zoolanders, there's a Meet The Fockers. And now he's brought Eddie Murphy out of retirement from credibility to try to remember how to be grown-up funny. Sans fatsuit and everything. With so-so action-comedy director Brett Ratner calling the shots, this is destined for the bargain bin, isn't it? Get ready to be shocked and amazed...

We Need To Talk About Kevin
Movie Review | Anna | 23rd October 2011
The novel that sparked a thousand debates in book groups up and down the land has finally made it to the big screen, and the film manages to be just as devastating as its source material. Eva (Tilda Swinton) is the mother of a mass murderer. Her teenage son Kevin (Ezra Miller) committed a horrific, Columbine-style atrocity at his high school, only Kevin didn't follow the fashion for turning his weapon on himself – Kevin is very much alive.

Making fake trailers is the new making actual movies
Movie News | Ali | 11th August 2011
Making real films is hard. Making fake trailers is easy. Making real films takes ages. Making fake trailers takes days. Making real films is expensive. Making fake trailers is cheap. Here ends today's maths lesson.
